Which high performance Clincher tyre?

There are some pretty good deals on at Ribble at the moment, and specifically I will need a new pair of tyres pretty soon.
I have been running GP4000s for about 18 months and would happily buy again, but Ribble's prices have thrown a spanner in the works....
GP4000s for 25.46 each
Vittoria Open Corsa EvoCX(320Tpi) Tyre 21.74 each
Michelin Pro 4 Race Service Course 23.81 each
Schwalbe Ultremo ZX 26.24
They'll probably go on around Spring, but I might as well snap them up while they're cheap. Used on my 1 and only bike for everything. Commuting in London and longer rides (50+ "hilly" miles in surrey). My head says GP again as I have had pretty much no surprise punctures, but I wouldn't mind a change.
People rave about Vittoria Open Pave so perhaps the Corsa would be good too?
Any thoughts/experience?
Cheers

Vittoria - blinding tyre, i used the 4000s before i converted and they're sound but they just don't feel the same as the corsas.
Where the hell do you get corsas for £21?0 -
If you're using it for commuting too I'd have a look at vittoria open paves too...
I'm a vittoria fan boy and love the open corsas but they really are a good weather tyre. I've bought some veloflex masters to try out as my fast tyre for next year, looking forward to giving them a go.Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Ribble.
Nap - I know you rave about the Paves but they are still 45 everywhere I look!0 -
I've only used them for commuting so far, but they seem far far better than their predecessors and at this price level, are a complete bargain

I still have a soft spot for Conti Attack/ Force but they are quite light and I wear the back tyre out in less time than most other tyres. I'm still using them though!

Those are Michelin pro 4?0

Yep - the service course variant, same as I have. I got mine elsewhere for a bargain to try out and I've been really impressed in all respects by them. The Pro 3's were a bit of a headache for me - they rolled well but were very easily cut up and a nightmare to fit onto my wheels at the time. Still really nice ride quality but the compound or layers in the tyre build up seems much harder wearing. Haven't found the downside - yet!

Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX, esp at £21.
As for punctures, in the time I've been running them for, ~1500miles, my missus with Open Paves has had two punctures, I've had none.
I'm sure punctures are more down to luck than tyre defence.0 -

I have to agree about the Open Corsas. Lovely quick tyres but I stopped trusting them in greasy conditions after a couple of incidents. That PR4 deal linked above is very good. Also a big fan of the GP4000S - that's what I've currently got on my winter bike.0 -
Schwalbe Durano's are an excellent all rounderSelling my Legend frame

Who asked for an all rounder?0

The Open Corsa Evo CX is the fastest clincher on the market right now. Best ridden with latex inners.0

I'll take it. Got some on order now. Sadly only got spesh inners but it'll do.0

You did.

Yeah but a high performance isn't an all rounder, surely?0

You didn't mention anything about high performance. And would you really want a high performance tyre commuting in London? If you wanted high performance I would have recommended Veloflex tyres but they wouldn't last 2 minutes commuting.Selling my Legend frame

How is that provable, out of interest?0 -
The thread title is high performance clincher. There were the choices (currently on pretty good sale at Ribble) but as I (might be) commuting, Puncture protection is something I need to consider.
Vittoria it is.0 -

What's the relevant column and table? Looks very detailed (I must admit I can't figure out what it all means).0 -
Essentially they are in ascending order of rolling resistance, Crr, or watts lost per wheel due to the Crr.
The tyres above the open corsa CX 320tpi with latex inntertube in the table are either tubular, or specialist such as the FMB silk, and certainly not £21.
Note that latex inner tubes make a fair difference. Some tyres are tested with latex and butyl.0 -
Nice one, thank you0

Pro 4 service course, currently at £44 for 2 with 2 free tubes on Chain Reaction cycles. If you bump your order up to £99 you can also get £15 off. So I got my pair this week for £38.0

Oh B@ll@x I have just ordered some more from Ribble for £23 odd each which I thought was a blinding deal, didn't think about CRC!0 -
Some silly prices on tyres at the moment
Vittoria open corsa evoCX at ribble for £21.74 (black 23mm only)
http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-t ... itttyrf260
Veloflex master £25.80, Veloflex corsa £24.70 both at pro bike kit but only in 20mm option not sure what the difference is.0 -

This. Also done 1500 miles on a pair of Evo CX's, best tyres I've ever used. That said they are only deployed on the summer bike.- 2023 Vielo V+1

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Veloflex compare to the Vittoria. They'll have to be going some to beat the Vittorias!Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

I think I'm turning into a tyre junkie
I do not need any new tyres but I am tempted by the Vittorias
I love the story behind Veloflex though. As I understand it the workers of the old Vittoria factory in Italy set up Veloflex when Vittoria moved production to China. Probably makes fk all difference in performance but that hand made Italian feel when you pull them out of the packet. hmmmm0 -
It's Thailand, not China isn't it? And the high end tyres are still hand made, they're just different hands.0

Heh! You just made me line up and take a pic of my vittoria/veloflex collection. I put them in order of weight (weighed on my kitchen scales just now)...
Vittoria Chrono Evo tub - 171g
Veloflex Master 23 Clincher - 199g
Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX Clincher - 212g
Vittoria Corsa Evo CX Tub - 241g
Vittoria Open Pave Clincher - 245g
Can't believe the weight of the Chrono! That's including the tube don't forget. No wonder it's fast. It's mega thin and soooo supple...Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching
