How do you correctly setup a Front Mech?

I'm struggling to setup the Fron Mech, it is Shimano 105.
On the movement to the big ring it was taking the chain off over the outside, adjusted it but now it cross chain rubs past the 4-5 bottom rear cogs.
I'm doing something wrong.

Look on the Park Tools website, or Youtube. Lots to offer in the way of maintenance videos.
My 105 front mech was really tricky to set up. But, after a few attempts, I got it sorted. Patience and small adjustments is all I can say.Ghost Race 5000 (2011) Shimano 105 Black

The front derailleur is there to move and align the chain correctly over the front cranks. It needs to be parallel to the crank ring otherwise the chain won't run true. You're right in setting it so that the chain doesn't drop off the outside when changing up. If you're satisfied the FD is set up correctly, are you sure the rear one is aligned correctly? Sounds to me like a small adjustment at the rear is required but without seeing it it is difficult to pinpoint the issue.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0
