Power torque removal tool alternative

Having done a bit of research on this and still not come up with a definitive answer I was wondering if there was one?!

Basically there is no way I am stumping up for the official or Park CBP-3/CBP-5 tools to get my power torque crankset off. At the end of the day it would be cheaper to cut it off as I am replacing it!

So I just wondered if there was a cheapo bearing puller out there that would do the trick?
TIA

From your forum name I assume you are in Cornwall somewhere.

If so, and you want to come and use mine I'm in Bude. Drop me a pm if interested.

If you want something you can use yourself then I think any generic bearing puller should work which you should be able to pick up fairly cheaply from eBay if you only want it to pull the crank arm off.

if you need it to remove the actual bearing from the axle you may struggle, but then I haven't tried it, so it may work.

  • Thanks Joe. Unfortunately I'm about as far from Bude as you can get in Cornwall - down in Penzance.

I'll see if there is anything that looks the part on ebay - worth a try if it's cheap enough

Would be interested to see what you come up with. Have to say that the Power Torque design really annoys me - I kind of wish I'd never put it on my bike since I'll either have to go to a shop or buy yet more tools when it comes to taking it off. Good blog post on the subject here:
