Brake Blocks Worn? What Type?
Hi Guys,
Whilst out riding last week with some mates, my front brakes were making a grinding noise and I said it sounds like my brake blocks need replacing, one said its just probably the crap off the road (it was raining bad) but taking a look at the blocks they look pretty worn to me?
What do you reckon, need replacing?
They are obviously Shimano Ultegra as its the full gruppo, and has it written in big letters over the caliper, but what type? From memory I believe they were 6700?
Are these the correct ones to replace? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shi ... r-ec041613

I would replace with Azec pads road plus or Koolstops. Shimano pads are O/K but you don't have to use them. Aztec are cheaper too.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

Aztecs tend to be harsh on rims but very grippy0

You only need to replace the pad, not the whole thing.

Plenty of life left in those. The notches in the pads are wear indicators; when they disappear it's time to replace the pads.- - - - - - - - - -

In which case I'd say the one on the left is definitely due for replacement, so fit a new pair
Pff. Wimp. Buy a new pair and replace when necessary, not before. 10 minute job, after all; may as well get the most out of them!- - - - - - - - - -

Stupid comment! a decent ride in the wet with a few hills - not uncommon - would have the brake shoes in the rims... all for the sake of a tenner.0
