I recently bought a jet black elastogel trainer that is supposed to be quiet, but literally sounds like a helicopter is taking off even at low speeds. It actually hinders me going fast on it in case the neighbors complain. I'm using it on a carpetted concrete floor too

Can anyone recommend a cheapish trainer that only makes a small noise. I.e. that won't annoy people in another room?

The one on decathlon looks good. A Tac x satori, can anyone confirm this is quiet?

Thanks

The fluid version of your turbo. I've got one and it's almost silent - the bike is noisier.

I got one of the Tacx Satoris. It is a really good deal at the moment in Decathlon.
It appears to be much quieter than my older trainer, although my wife says she could still hear it downstairs without using the included mat.
You can hear the video without any trouble at all.

My local Decathlon has a demo setup so others may do too.

  • Thanks for that Declan, the Elite one looks good, but out of stock

In regards to the Satori, which Decathlon store is that?

Decathlon at Lakeside in Essex, possibly a bit far from Leeds.

  • I have no turbo to compare to but I have just purchased my first one, Kurt kinetic road machine, I can listen to the tv without it having to be super loud or loud at all really and barely any vibration out of the turbo too, it only starts to get noisey at speeds I can't hold for more than a minute anyway haha. When I say noisey it is still reasonable though, not sure on your budget but its built solid too, I intend on keeping it for years.
