I'm getting a canyon ultimate cf slx bike in/ around march next year, and was wondering on the reliability of the ultegra di2 gear shifting mechanism. anyone have any problems with is and is it expensive to fix. looks like there are a few minor issues with batteries but other than that (if maintained properly) is it pretty solid?

  • I have only heard good things about Di2, even in the Ultegra vesion.

I know a clubmate who had lots of issues with his Ultegra DI2, was in and out the shop all the time. Turned out it was a duff control box I think. So they replaced that and it's been fine ever since.

  • I have had it on two bikes for nearly a year now and have had no problems at all.

In fact it has proven more reliable than mechanical systems as the cables cannot sieze up with crud.

I totally recommend it. Shimano have it nailed and they should have given Di2 has now been around for a good few years.
