Depends on the bottom bracket.
Square taper, Octolink (and ISIS?) require a special tool to take the cranks off. Hollowtech II just requires an allen key.
Removing the bottom bracket itself requires another tool. Octolink has one tool, HTII has another.
If you just want to replace chainrings, you might be able to do it without removing the cranks. It would be fiddly, but possible. As long as you can get to the chainring bolts, which might be done up tight and/or corroded.0 -
As Thistle asks, more info required to really help you, there's a few systems requiring different tools...and if its the chainrings that are worn, you can replace those quite easily (usually) without any specialist tools.
Give us some more info Joe
Is it the chainrings that are worn, is the BB ok, or do you just want an upgrade...0 -
have a read of Parktools to see what is needed."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
