You need to decide what you want. Deep rims or not ? Why spend that much if you aren't even sure what you want ?

What cycling do you do ? Are they for racing, time trialling, climbing, training ?
  • its more training, climbing and aero in one. ive been looking at the bontrager race lites for £450 @1520g, Mavic SLS 2013 for £800 @1400g but no much aero. would like the aero benefit if possible but then id be looking at bontrager aura 5 for £950 at around 1750g I think

  • No brainer, get a pair of Shimano C24's. Probaly the best all round wheel you can get. I got mine for £500 in the sale, look around, you could get a decent bargain & spend the rest on more gucci kit

One of the big groups (wiggle or cr) are selling duraace c35's in the sale for 800, these would be my choice

If you want light & aero then your best bet is sprint rims i.e. rims that take tubs.

If you want clincher, what about the Miche SWR wheels? http://www.miche.it/en/catalogo-ruote/s ... swr-carbon

These can be picked up online for about £800

I have a couple of different Miche wheelsets and they are bomb proof - best of all their hubs are ultra smooth, Ugo Santalucia can vouch for this.

Can you get rims and hubs at cost as well? If so, all you need to do is buy the parts, pass them onto me together with a pair of 20 notes and you have your wheels at cost... 8)

    That sounds like the option!

Good handbuilts over factory built any day.

How stiff would these Wheelsmith wheels be? I've got some A23 Handbuilts and whilst they are smooth, they do flex a little too much for me. I'm not overly heavy at 73kg's as well. My Shimano RS80's seem alot stiffer by comparison.

The issue with Factory built wheels is spares. Ping a spoke and expect a long wait to get it fixed if your LBS isn't carrying a spare. No such issues with handbuilts.

And wheelsmith is doing a spoke for life deal with every pair.

Your A23 should be stiff, I wonder what spokes you have at the rear...
