Looking at possibly buying a Carbon bike with a broken down tube. Frame manufactured by V O S S and as far as I know is 10 years old-ish and but do not know the name of it, the person selling doesn't either.
So I'm thinking of buying circa £100 and getting repaired but a couple of issues. It's a 58cm frame and being 5' 11" I'm told by the seller I'm his height and fits him well but have my doubts, obviously need to go and see it but that isn't my biggest issue. The second issue is of all the carbon repair companies I've been in touch with have advised they wouldn't fix it due to its location on the seam above the bottom bracket and some companies saying it's bonded to an aluminium tube inside which is broke too. One company, Carbonology have advised they reckon they could fix it, based on a photo. They did advise if not possible they'd send it back and nothing lost... well only £100.
My thinking is if I could get it fixed I have a cheapish carbon bike... if it fits or I could get it fixed and sell but have no idea about this company, parts are anything and what I could expect. Scenario 3 is I get it, it can't be fixed and I look to sell the parts to claw back my £100.
What would you do and does anyone know anything about V O S S and what I could expect if it is too big?

Seriously! A 10 year carbon frame with a broken down tube, how was it broken? How do you know other parts of the frame have also not been damaged? Will said firm who can fix it also X-ray it to ensure it's worth bothering with before they start work? What guarantee will they provide when fixed?
Personally wouldn't touch it with a barge pole0 -
If anyone can do it HQ Fibre Products can, they are experts when it comes to carbon, I've seen their repairs and they are top drawer (plus, they did all the Lotus framework too)0

Just what I was thinking...... A 10 yr old broken carbon frame.... It's likely the carbon they fix it with would 5x stronger than the frame. Carbon has come a long way in the last few yrs let alone 10. Fair enough if it's all you can afford (I don't your situation) however I'd put your money elsewhere. Only place that its fit for is the bin.
Have a look on eBay and see what's out there.Look 595 ultra - F+F for sale.....

£100 for a broken ten year old carbon frame ?
You'll be able to buy new for about the same cost as that and the repair.0 -
Maybe ask yourself if you will ever truly trust it once you are out on the road - say coming down the Galibier at 80km/h? (I know I wouldn't but then I do need to mtfu)0
