ERGO shifters assembly

I have recently learnt to reassemble campagnolo ergo shifters... Picking up your brains... Is there any difference between the veloce and the record 9 speed ratchet? I am asking as the latter is available as spare and I wonder if it makes sense to upgrade the lever to get "record like shifting accuracy" for a few pounds...
Or they are just exactly the same part with the same degree of machining?
Any first hand experience?

No idea but I would like to learn how to reassemble ergo shifters too. Can you give any advice on how to go about it?
I've seen the videos from the campagnolo website and I wonder is there's any other help out there.
Thanks in advance0 -

Get hold of a broken one is my advice. It is not terribly difficult... Just a watchmaker job to fit the springs, the rest is easy....left the forum March 20230 -

Long time since I did one - Record and Chorus, so no experience of 9 speed Veloce. You can probably still find the spare parts catalogues of that era online to compare part numbers - many were common across the range.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Checked a 2002 spare parts catalogue earlier, 9 speed Record and 9 speed Veloce both use the same index ratchet. Carbon lever blades and ball bearings (rather than bushings) seem to be the only differences on Record.Alex0

I have come to the same conclusion... the bearings won't fit the Veloce body, so no room for "upgrade". It is interesting that back then Veloce Ergo was nearly as good as Record, while more recent Veloce/Centaur Ergo shifters include lots of plastic parts not up to the job.
I always thought Veloce 9 speed was a fantastic groupset and more recently it has become a bit of a joke in the Campagnolo range.
Quality now starts at Chorus, even Athena is really nothing special and not as good as Veloce was ten years ago.left the forum March 20230
