Seems my gatorskins have spit down the side.

Any recommendations for an all year tyre at an affordable price would be welcome...

Thanks

Vittoria Rubino's. 2's if budget conscrious, Pro's if you can afford them.
  • -1 for Durano S

They are better than the gatorskins but cut up just as much.

Loved my GP4000S but replaced them with Rubino Pro 3's as they are supposed to be just as good but cheaper...

I've been impressed with Specialized Roubaix tyres. 240g, easy to get on and off and good in all weathers. Have them on two of my bikes now, not punctured yet on either.

I have the Durano S and although they have not punctured they are fraying round the side wall. Keep having to cut off lengths of 'cotton thickness' bits and if you pull them they just keep unravelling.

I also have gator hardshells that have done 3 times the miles with zero issues.

I'm running Schwalbe Ultremo DD's in 700x25c at the moment and so far have been really impressed with them. They've seen some horrible weather around the Surrey Hill recently with all sorts of muck and stones in the road and they have been faultless. They roll well, grip really well and not one puncture. I prefer them to the GP4000s that I have used before. Got them at a great price of £26 each from bike-dicount.de, really quick delivery too.
  • why no to new gator's? Use them every winter...

  • Michelin Pro 4 Endurance worth a look too. Only ridden mine once, so can't comment on them really. I used to swear by Krylions though which were replaced by the Pro 4...

    +1.

Used Krylions for a while and done 1/2 a dozen or so rides on a Pro4 Endurance so far. More than happy with them.

gp4000s - never paid more than £26 for them, so happy with the longevity / performance for the price.

Schwalble Durano's for winter. Schwalbe Ultremo's for summer, and if you fancy racing Veloflex tyres.

That's my tyre recommendations out of the way
