Tempted by the Cinelli

Seen this (on wiggle
) and i am more than slightly tempted. Would go for Blue over Red as i love blue bikes. i know enough about the spec but know little about the frame etc. The bike gets good reviews and i guess is a little exclusive. What do you think - for a grand looks like bargain to me.

Looks good for the price, as you say gets good reviews and got a good spec, maybe change out the Tektro brakes for some to match the groupset but looks like a good buy.Road - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40044&t=12777154&p=16943702#p16943702

The 2K price point was a bit ambitious for a bike that hasn't even got a full 105 group set... for 1000 pounds seems a good enough dealleft the forum March 20230
-
i think it has real potential as the frame looks pretty decent. best looking bike i have seen at that price point for a while imo.0
-
I ordered mine for $833 in Red (Saetta Sprint 2012 105)... and then saw the price bump up to 1,000
Think I got a really good deal
I just hope Wiggle makes good on it!!!!0 -
Buy it. I've had one for two weeks and love it. Very comfortable ride and confident when you point it down hill. The tektros are the only cheapskate item on the bike - full carbon fork and carbon seatpost. I'd agree that the RRP of £2k would be a little optimistic.0
-
Buy it. Seriously tempted myself but am waiting to pick up a 2013 black frame because I'm a massive tart, only it'll probably cost more than this entire build
The 2013 Saetta with full 105 (inc. brakes) is circa £1,600.0 -

I'd have been all over that if they had an extra large! At 6'2" I think I'll probably be a bit big for the Large?0 -

juankerr - Did yours come with the RS10 or RS30 wheels? Picture and spec are different according to Wiggle. Also whats the saddle like for comfort?0 -

my 'pro best of' is an extra large and i am 6ft with a 34" inseam. the 'pro best of' has an ISP which i have not needed to cut. i would therefore suggest that a large will be tiny for you!0 -
Yeah .. it was listed as 1,666 (50%) off when I decided to hit the buy button. (Not too sure if was a pricing error.. or they just suddenly decided to bump the price up...)
Was just tooooooo tempting.

Are you saying it was going for less that £1000 a while ago?0 -
Wheels are RS10s.
Saddle seems o.k. so far I think it's a Prologo as here:

had no idea it was a Prologo. Will see how i get on with it. Bike may be here by wednesday0 -
Have had my finger hovering over the buy button on one of these this morning....
Original plan was to wait for the cold dark winter for used prices to bottom out and pick up a secondhand bargain, but this is mighty tempting.
Decisions!
I am bang in the middle of wiggle size guide for a medium (170cm) - any idea how well that stacks up to reality?strava - http://app.strava.com/athletes/1217847

I realise I am talking to myself here but I just pulled the trigger on a blue Saetta 105 for £1k
Swap out the cheapo brakes for 105 and that is a lot of bike for a grand, will certainly do me anyway.
Anyway, as you were....strava - http://app.strava.com/athletes/1217847

you can save yourself even more by keeping the calipers but replacing the cartridge pads. dual pivots at this level are all much of a oneness (unless you are in serious weight weenie mode), but the differences in performance are almost always down to the pads.0 -

Cheers for the info - I dont care too much as long as I stop!
I am certainly not a weight weenie - I am currently riding round on a Genesis Croix de Fer which weighs 25lbs when it gets out the showerstrava - http://app.strava.com/athletes/1217847

Yeah.. I was thinking the same thing.
Swapping out the brake pads would be my top priority before deciding to swap out the entire caliper...
Cheers for "kinda" verifying my thoughts...fivethirtyonepm wrote:jotko wrote:I realise I am talking to myself here but I just pulled the trigger on a blue Saetta 105 for £1k

This is the large size. Looks so much better on the flesh.0

How tall are you, if you don't mind me asking? and is that the correct seat height for you in the photo?
Im 6'11" with 32" leg and wonder if large would would be suitable.0 -
I am 5ft 11 with 82cm inside leg and whilst the saddle may need some adjsutment its more or less in the correct position.0

6 foot 11!!! I guess that is a typo based on leg length !!
There is only red mediums left on wiggle now anyway.
I am 5ft 7, I went for a medium, that should be just right according to wiggles size guide (for what its worth)
Looking at the geometry the sizing looks small compared to other manufacturers, a medium looks pretty much like a specialized 52 sizewise - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cinelli-saetta- ... escriptionstrava - http://app.strava.com/athletes/1217847

Tell us how you get along, I'm 5'9, used to right a 56 spesh that was in hindsight too big! So thinking a 54 would be better and have been looking at this frameset in Medium, so when you say it is like a 52 spesh, that has me a little worried.
The geo chart shows the Saetta has a top tub of 54.5, that's very close to a 54cm spesh [54.8].

Bike turned up today - look stunning but haven't ridden it yet, will give an update when I get it all set up.
I was comparing the M geometry with a Specialized 52 roubaix - v.similar virtual top tube (8mm), seat tube, and headtube. Looks like it would be fine for someone 5ft 9 though out the box though - I suspect I will end up with shorter stem than the 110 that is on there now.strava - http://app.strava.com/athletes/1217847

Had a good play around with the bike last night.
Measurements wise it comes up just shy of a standard 54 (eg a specialized allez) so if this is what you are used to then go for it. It 'feels' small though - my current commuter bike is a 54 Croix De Fer which has same virtual tt (545) as the Saetta but feels huge in comparison - I guess this is due to the compact geometry of the Saetta.
I tend to get on better with a slightly larger frame with a shorter stem (due to less seat to bar drop I think) so size wise it feels good for me - out the box it comes with a 100mm stem, I expect I will swap this out for a 90mm same as my Genesis as htis is spot on comfortwise.
