"I try to explain what it's like to race in the tour, on closed roads... It's good... It's fun".

He seems to still hold a real passion for the sport.

Le Mond had to get old 'n fat before he got into Rapha. I hear he's doing night classes in orthodontistry too

Have to do this now before anyone else does...

then we can get on with all the witty coments about Lemond remounting his throne as the best US rider ever.
  • Surely the Rapha image is about looking like a friendless sociopath? They got the wrong American.

Took me a minute before I realised the guy with the 'tashe wasn't FrenchFighter.

That is one happy, content sounding man. Great little clip.
  • Oh, I sort of, hoped it was.

Is he the massively fat guy? Can't see how it helps Rapha's "sexy" image.

Seems like a lot of ex-pros maintain their tour calorie intake long after the Champs Élysées.
  • would love to know how good he is uphill at that weight. looked like he caned them on the descent

I think if you watched cycling in the 80's, Lemond is a total hero. I would still say he's my all time fave cyclist and if I rode bikes I'd probably be Rapha's target audience.

  • Quite a lot of rapha stuff is a rip off from what ive seen but the video is great and greg was a great rider back in the day.

I dident realise charles bronson had been released and had ventured into road riding?

What comes around, goes around. Black without advertising. :?:
Picture could have been taken in the 1950's except those crazy USA hats.

Total total hero. In fact a 'Hero for life' - rather than some of the more short lived all-American heros....

    Awesome clip.

    Bring back Lemond bikes. Please!

Well yea and no. He was the first / only "United State-ian" to wear yellow. Alex Stieda was the first North American rider to wear yellow, in 1986.

    So, just watched the video:
    1) I'd love to ride in Nevada.
    2) I'd love to ride with Greg Lemond.
    3) Those black rapha continental bikes with the pink chris king hubs sure look pretty.

Does anyone remember that story from quite a while back. Involved Greg Lemond, a massive wildfire in CA or NV, last 20 of some protected bird species - vultures? -, and Greg getting some of the blame?

Hahaha, when people watch too many Rapha video's - not only do they acquire knowledge of useless pedantic facts, they also develop an uncompromising level of seriousness. It doesn't stop at Lance Armstrong jokes either... (oh and, refreshingly, it's no pretence - just pure untempered seriousness).

I'm going to have to stop watching these:
    4) I want to ride in Alberta
    5) I want to ride with Alex Stieda (what a dude!)
    6) Maybe I'll just get some Chris King hubs... or a headset... or the BB....
  • I hear he's doing night classes in orthodontistry too

I'd heard he was chief pie tester for Pukka......................mind ewe having not ridden since the Marmotte I could be accused of same...........
  • good clip - looks a fantastic spot for a spin

Le mond is a hero, but who are the Rapha hangers on....(although I must admit I think its a strong brand)

a few do mug it up in front of the camera, but yeah, looks a great place for a ride. the cast list is to the left side of the video if my mind serves me correctly. which it rarely does.
