SRAM brake cable

I'm new to road bike maintenance so please excuse my ignorance.
I'm building up a road bike with second hand parts and want to replace the gear and brake cables. I have a SRAM Force groupset and would like to know if Shimano brake cables can be used in lieu of SRAM cables. I noticed that there are slight differences in the nipple designs with the SRAM nipple being rounded at the top.
Also the front mech band is too big and I need a 31.8mm. Can another bracket be bought separately as they can be removed by an allen bolt. All internet searches have proved fruit less.
Cheers.

sram/shimano cables are compatible
if the front mech is simply a braze-on type with a separate clamp, then you can probably use one of these...

otherwise you can use a shim...

That clamp is spot on and I've just ordered one.
Thanks for your help.0
