Hand Built Steel Frames

Some time ago I had a bespoke lugged-steel touring bicycle built for me by Mark Reilly at Enigma, who was kind enough to allow me to photograph the process. While I knew - as we all do - the bicycles are works of art, I had no idea about the visual artistry and craftsmanship that goes into the making of a hand-built frame. While not exactly Buying Advice per se, anyone who is thinking of investing in a fine steel frame - or more particularly an Enigma - might find the photo essay below useful

(And hopefully Alihisgreat will be pleased to see a 'review' of sorts with plenty of photographs! :D )

Here it is:

If I won the lotto I'd get one of those Mark Reilly 25th anniversary Enigma frames. I've seen some of his work (complete and in progress) when Enigma were preparing for the Bespoked bike show in Bristol. Absolutely beautiful.

I have a colour scheme and spec in my head, ready to go. The Euromillions jackpot is £121 million this Friday.........
