standard shimano BB tool.
see ParkTools for part numbers etc."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

+1. Ignore the funny notches on the outside of the BB cups (anyone know what they do?), the internal splines are standard Shimano.0

ask a silly question eh!!!
For some reason i thought there were some other tools involved other than just the bb tool.
I thought i might need a "cotterless crank puller" - whats one of these anyway!?
Cheers, Paul0 -
Some cranks are self extracting; you undo the bolt in the centre and it pulls the crank off the axle. (Bolt initially loosens, then tightens as it starts to pull on the crank, then loosens again as it comes off)
Some are not; you undo the bolt and all that comes off is the bolt, leaving the crank still on the axle. Then you need said crank puller. Remember to remove any washer the bolt has left behind, and screw the thing fully into the crank before tightening it up to pull the crank off.0 -
You'll need the BB tool, plus the crank puller
Depending on the crank puller, you'll probably also need a blank which fits into the BB for the crank puller to work against - the BB spindle is hollow where the crank bolts screw into it, so the crank puller will just go into it.
A suitably sized washer or bolt etc would do, if you have one the correct size, but you can buy the blank for a fiver or so.
