Thanks - glad I went out early, as the rest of the day was rubbish here. But for 15 minutes it was a stunner this morning.

A perfectly cooked jacket potato. I've just nailed it for the second time this week. Better than any shop bought one at a fraction of the cost.0

As an unabashed folkie, I am loving #ShantyTok - the latest fad to hit tiktok, which I have reason to believe is an online service often used by young people:

This is not what I imagined singers of sea shanties to look like.
1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

... I guess that one thing #shantytok shows, and why I like it, is that the creativity of crowds is all but unlimited.
But of course the capacity of "the internet" for taking something and using it in a way that is far removed from the originator's plan can end up being a good thing or a bad thing...
As in, take a soundtrack (it's the original Scottish postie + one duetting bassman) and mime to it...0 -
Yeah, I like the idea of it. I like mainstream musicians doing collaborations too, it seems to happen quite a bit now. I would imagine it's more fun too and less stressful having to come up with ideas (depending on the people involved of course).bompington said:... Had a burrito delivered from my favourite shop yesterday for lunch to perk up a particularly difficult day.
Still basking in how nice it was. Not least as I had my two favourite hot sauces to hand. Ideal.
Might have washed it down with a lunch time beer. Lovely.1 -
I should add to the trivial things that annoy me trousers that are too tight and too short (with no socks). Generally worn by people who spend loads of time in the gym but never do leg day.rjsterry said:This is not what I imagined singers of sea shanties to look like.

You should make a note to never go to Shoreditch.Pross said:

That's pretty sound advice all round. I can't think of a compelling reason to go there. Maybe Vietnamese food on Kingsland Rd, but that is probably far enough away to not count.surrey_commuter said:

The hipster lads' version sounds exactly identical to the original I linked to - no evidence of any added voices.kingstongraham said:

It's this picture from a lads night out in 2019 that went viral, and someone has animated it so it looks like they are singing. It's quite astonishing that someone could/would go to the effort to do this. On the video, look at the guys on the left that I've circled.

Ok, got me there.
People are easily fooled, aren't they? I think I can reasonably claim to be more aware than most of digital trickery but if you're not on your toes...0 -
It's really impressive, isn't it? If you just glance at it.bompington said:Ok, got me there.

The head of the one second from left looked proper weird in the still from the video (so much so that I almost commented on it) - but is hardly any different from the undoctored one, which looks reasonably normal. Probably a function of the brain's sensitivity to facial features and proportions.0 -

According to Decathlon’s tracking thingy my parcel is still in transit and should be arrive in two days time. What’s nice is that the postman dropped it off 4 oclock.0

My banana armour.
Used for first time on a bike ride today and no squishing or bruising of my yellow bendy friend.

Added to that, my welly remover. Both great, cheap Xmas presents.
I have a nerdy passion for simple things that work well.0 -
