Just looking to replace my rear cassette and chain on my SRAM Rival gruppo.

Does anyone know if you can use Shimano 10 speed with SRAM and mix/match the components or are there compatibility issues?

Thanks

Gary P

Shimano chain and cassette will be fine.

  • What he said.

Cassette / Chain will work fine, although shimano chains in both my opinion and experience are crap. Snappier than Mr Snappy the alligator when he has a bad hangover and piles.

    YBN, KMC or Wipperman everytime.

Nothing else will work at all - mechs, shifters as there is a different pull ratio.
  • Some manufacturers (e.g. Boardman) actually manufacture their bikes with a mix of SRAM and Shimano components. My Hybrid Pro came with SRAM Rival Mechs, SRAM shifters, Shimano chain and Shimano cassette. All worked perfectly.

Yeah...pretty common for manufacturers to spec a shimano cassette with SRAM gears - I have 105 cassette with Rival. +1 for avoiding the shimano chains though.
