Chainset compatibility
Just a quick one.
I am transplanting kit to a new frame and I would like to replace my 9 Campag speed drive train with shiney 10 speed 105.( new wheels are Shimano) The thing is that i would like to keep my rather natty carbon Chorus compact chainset ( 102 mm Bottom bracket)
does anyone know if the front shifting will work ok ?
Thanks

Chainsets are almost universal because the chainline dimension is standard for all road bikes. You'll be fine with your 9 speed chainrings too unless they are pretty worn.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

^^is the correct answer. Within reason, most chainsets will work fine with most groupsets.0

Thanks for your answers..seems worthwhile giving it a go..0

10 speed chain is narrower than 9 speed so you may find it needs carefull set up / use of the front mech.Yellow is the new Black.0

Not really : if anything, the reverse could apply, a (marginally...) wider chain than the mech is designed for, but this will be fine, in fact will rub less !0
