In the process of getting parts for a new build. Will be using a mixed set of Sram parts (Red and Force), so will not be buying a full groupset. So the question is will I get any cables with either any of the parts I buy? If not what cables would you recommend?

afaik usually a complete sram groupset comes with cables, but if you're buying separates i wouldn't expect any

sram red comes with gore ride-on, it's ok but after a while the coating on the cables can shed and then it clogs in the outers causing drag

any shimano/sram compatible cabling will do, simplest way is to buy a set so that you get all the ferrules etc., there are plenty to choose from, according to budget, colour preference etc.

good outer/cable cutters make things go a lot smoother, if you need some the park tool ones are good

  • Seems a lot to choose from! Any recommendations for particular none gore cables? Yes will need to pick up some decent cutters. The ones I currently have tend to mangle things a lot, so thanks for the tip on that.

I use Jagwire cables and not had any issues with them.
