So it's been a fun few weeks in the land of cycling. Finally we've actually got some confirmation of what's been suspected for the thick end of 15 years with the helpful hand of Mr Plod. Finally we have the possibility of everyone 'fessing up.

And what happens?

For exactly the same reasons people began doping in the first place (the simple economics that you need to dope to get or keep a job) now you better keep your damn mouth shut or you'll lose your job. Leipheimer, a large proportion of Sky over the age of 30, Australian and Swedish cycling federation official, etc.

I know there are plenty of people that dislike Team Ex-druggie-but-pragmatic, but for f**ks sake at least they aren't driving the problem and the potential solutions back underground.

The current sponsor carnage might seem to be dramatic, but is it any worse than most autumns? Cycling might be a dirt cheap way of getting your brand in front of millions of rabid enthusiasts, but the economic climate isn't exactly great for anyone, so I would guess that's got as much to do with any cash exodus than Armstrong-gate.

Professional cycling basically has to get used to having less money sloshing around for a few years and hope the fans stay with it. That will also have the happy byproduct of reducing the financial incentives to cheat, reducing the amount of cash riders have to wave at dodgy Drs, etc.

Oh yeah, here's one to through out there. How amount immunity from prosecution for anyone providing evidence that leads to a conviction for Medical malpractice? That would flush out a few of the pharmacists.
