And I thought a peddle was just a flat platform to put your foot on.

I have straps on my carrera tdf and feel very unsafe using them.

Been looking at alternatives but not sure what to get.

Been looking at clip less or is it cleat? Is there a way to convert my trainers to fit these pedals?

  • If you want to change to SPDs you will also need shoes. If you go with MTB style SPDs you can get shoes that resemble trainers. The benefit though is more if you get shoes with stiffer soles.

You might need some "Pedals" as well.

You should probably be looking at clipless pedals.. once you've got them you won't look back.

Decent shoes on a budget include: Shimano R077, DHB R1.0.

Decent pedals on a budget: Shimano PD-R540 SPD-SL, Shimano 105 SPD-SL, Look Keo easy.

My choice is shinamo SPD-SL as the cleats last longer than Look cleats.

You could look at MTB type SPD pedals if you want to be able to walk any sort of distance in the shoes, or want double sided entry.
