Hi all,

thought it was about time to start a thread for my bike.

Got it a few months ago, looking a bit rough:

So took it apart and cleaned it up:

Then put it back together:

Since then, I've been testing, tuning, and tweaking and ended up changing virtually everything on the bike:

Fork: RST Delta pro, 89mm
Brakes: Clarks S2 Hydraulic disc 185
Shift Levers: Deore SL-M510
Front Derailleur: Deore XT M770 (thanks to DarcyDimple)
Rear Derailleur: Deore XT (thanks to sigorman85)
Crankset: Unknown cheapy replacement
Cassette: 9-speed HG50-9N au 11-34T (thanks to Ult)
Bottom Bracket: VP-BC73 E (original)
Chain: SRAM PC 951
Pedals: Wellgo LU-984 (original)
Seatpost: HL-SP-233 (original)
Saddle: Via velo slim (Tesco cheapy but v. comfy)
Handlebar: Funn Fatboy 710mm (25 rise)
Stem: Exotic Alu 80mm OS
Grips: Max Singletrack lockon
Headset: FSA “The Pig”
Wheelset: El gallo (thanks to Ult)
Tyres: 2.10” Panaracer Fire XC Pro (£22.50 for the pair from Merlin - utter bargain!)

and here's what it looks like now:

Yes, i know for the money I've spent on it i probably could have bought a new new bike of similar or even better spec, but having built it up myself i do feel like I properly own this bike now. Plus, now all I need is a second frame to stick all the old bits on and I'll have two bikes...

Looking really nice, here is my daughters interpretation on the YZ3

Originally bought by my elder daughter as a part finished project (sprayed matt black), she turned it into quite a nicely specced XC bike (at 5'4" the sizing was spot on), she's now put everything onto a Dirty Jo frame so I cleaned up and sprayed the frame in the colour the younger daughter wanted and built it up using bits and pieces I had spare plus bits from her old CBR MTB.

Must be nice to have daughters that are also interested in bikes (to the extent of tinkering, not just riding).

Hope when mine's grown up a little she'll have the same level of interest.

Yeah it's cool, the eldest has always been a lot of a tomboy (she used to enjoy watching rallying with me and others from the extended family where she would be the only girl), she did voluntary work in a bike recycling shop and now works in Bikehut in Halfords, her first MTB was bought and then extensively upgraded, then we bought the YZ3 as a part finished project and finished that off (robbing some bits off her Shogun to finish it), now she has her Dirty Jo.

The younger one is a girly girl (notice the pink......) but suddenly wanted to do Cannock so I put decent tyres on her somewhat shonky road orientated CBR, she loved it so we built this together for her, she still wanted pink stuff on it though!
