hey guys, so im building my custom bike, and im almost 90% sure im going for shimano dura ace 7900 wheels. The description says these are tubeless. I guess my question is can i use these wheels without going tubeless? traditional inner tube etc?

If you search there was a thread about this two weeks ago where the guy had a crash on these using tubeless but cant remember if it was wrong choice of tyre or not. I woudl read it before riding tubeless just to make sure. I think he was using gp4000 from memory.

Are they tubeless? Yes and no.

You can buy a tubeless version, and a non-tubeless version. Make sure that the version you buy is the 'tubeless version'.

FYI, i have the non-tubeless version, and they're alright.

A couple of points. Have you committed to a groupset yet? Shimano's new range, the 9000, provides 11 speed for the first time (for Shimano) and it would be sensible for you to decide what appeal this may have before forking out on what will soon be outdated 10 speed kit for your new bike.

The new c24 wheels have hit the market already eg

My limited understanding is that you can use normal tubes and tyres on tubeless rims, as well as the tubeless tyres. Normally you pay a premium for the tubeless designated rims, so I'm curious why you would pay extra and revert to a traditional tube/ tyre set up. I'm sure I don't need to mention it, but I will anyway - make sure the wheels are tubeless and not tubular!
