Mudguards on a Supersix?

Sacrilege maybe, but I'm looking at my options for getting guards on my 2012 Supersix. I've got Crud Road Racer II's which used to fit my Boardman but there doesnt seem to be enough space to squeeze them in at the front or back on this bike.

I'm starting to wonder whether I should have bought the Supersix as its my only bike and I intended on using it all year round. At the moment with the roads being so wet and filthy i'm having to take an hour out everytime I come back just so I get the thing looking new again. I know its CF so wont rust but the bits on it will!

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get guards to fit on this?

If cruds don't fit it is unlikely anything else will.

4mm clearance required so if you can slide a 4mm allen key between the tyre and the fork bridge your OK.

If you have 25mm tyres that may be the problem and you could save space by using 23mm instead.

I know someone with cruds on a CAAD 10 and the frame geometry is the same so should fit.

Try SKS raceblade longs. They use metal brackets attached to the brake fixing point and have a little more clearance than Cruds. They fit on my carbon bike with 23 c tyres, not enough clearance at the back for a 25, whereas Cruds don't fit with either. Best best may be to take your bike to an LBS that stocks SKS and ask them to try a bracket to see if it will fit and clear the tyre. If they do then the mudguards should fit as they clear more than the brackets do due to the way they fix to the brackets.

You can see in this picture how the brackets attach and therefore the type of clearance you can get http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/pho ... sks/190769

I have crud 2's on my Caad10 (same geo as super6?) with 700x23mm conti all seasons.

I fitted the guards in about 20 mins and have not had any problems, in that they rub or need any adjusting. I am not sure I could get away with 25mm or wider tyres though?

get a bike flap at the back to protect you from getting your backside wet is good enough. a bit of mud and rain in the face is facts of life for riding a bike. you can't stop the frontage splash as most of it will be from the bike you are following as they either don't have mud guard that is kicking up a 6 foot tall water fall or they have mud guards that somehow directs all the water and mug right into your face.

I used to have those fit around the wheel guards, annoyed the crap out of as they are constantly rubbing and catching leaf in it.
