Hey,

I think this is the appropriate place to post if not I apologize.

I am 17 and male 5"9

I am looking for a new road Bike as stated, I am looking at the Cube peloton race 2012 or the Giant Defy 1 2012. From what research I have done these seem to be the best bikes at my price range.

I am in a club and will hopefully start racing this coming year and currently only own a hybrid roadseries. I cover about 200km a week (commuting for 75km of that).

I am stuck at which one to get, does anyone have some advice to help me :D I am pretty new to cycling but want a good enough bike, feel free to recommend other bikes.

Thanks for reading,
Conor

  • The following bikes are within your £1000 budget;

    Scott Speedster £850
    Felt Z85 £899
    Bianchi C2C £950
    Specialised Secteur Elite £1000
    Trek Madonne 2.1 £1000
    Cinelli Experience £1000
    Giant Defy 1 £1000
    Ribble Sportive £1000

Thats interesting, the Cube did not get a mention. General opinion appears to favour the Giant, good luck in your search
    2010 Trek Madonne 4.7
    2011 Bmc Promachine SLC01
    2013 Wilier Cento 1SR

    Thanks for the guidance :)
  • Speaking as a road-hardened veteran of almost two weeks, and 158 long miles (total :) ) I test-rode the Specialized Allez Elite which is £900, so maybe take a look there.

I ended up with a short list of the Allez Elite and a Giant Defy 3 composite (2012) - I bought the Giant.

However, I wouldn't claim to be giving guidance :)
    Is the gorilla tired yet?
