New Trek bike help/advise needed!

I'm asking for a mate!

He has set his mind on a Trek and really likes the new 2013 carbon models,

The Trek Domane 6.9
and
The Trek Madone 4.7
Both bikes look great and have very high components but has any one got any riding experience on these models or general advise?
I suppose the best way would to test ride each of them but for the time being!

These two bikes are so different. I can understand looking at the Madonne 4.7 which is reasonably priced at £2300 and lusting after the 6.9 which is thousands of pounds more expensive, they are almost at opposite ends of the scale.What about the 5 series Trek??
