Headset needed adjusting, usual 5 min. job, went out for spin- needed adjusting again, this has happened twice- third time I took off the head cap expecting to see a steer tube & a starnut. No chance , underneath was an allen set pin with the centre drilled & tapped to take the cap head securing set pin. Delving deeper I find out it's an fsa. orbit intergrated cartridge h/set, anybody know where I can get any tech. info before I go any further? I've visited Mr. Sheldon but can't seem to find anything relating to this type of h/set

what you are looking at is an expander. fit allen key and undo a little so you can move it down the steerer (if it is bottoming out the top cap.? and the tighten.

    then adjust headset as normal.

    looks something like

if you cant find it on Sheldon then use Parktools

  • i've got that ^^^

    got it from here

    if you need info

I'll see if I've got the instructions somewhere - what you do - from memory is - turn the screw until the wedges expand and make a snuggish fit in the steerer- i made the wedges wider that the steerer and reduced them as it made for a tighter fit - you should be able to put it in the steerer without it dropping in - when its in you simply tighten it.

  • Many thanks folks, I knew these bungs existed but didn't know I had one until now, Mr. Parks pictures were very good & well worth a print out for further ref. Armed with this awareness I shall proceed ( I like to make haste slowly) cheers.
  • Update---- took the headcap off & sure enough it was "bottoming" out onto the bung, slackened off the bung slightly - tapped it down2-3 mm - torqued to 6nm. ( max. is 8nm.) according to Mr.fsa. fitted headcap & tightened to take out the play in the forks. Went for a ride & all is well, I'm now one happy & wiser bunny.
