Guys,

Looking for a 27.2 carbon seatpost for the caad10 to soak up some of that dreaded road buzz from rubbish roads.

Needs to be inline and not setback - any thoughts on decent posts that dampen??

Was thinking carbon 3t, Thompson or ritchey, anyone have a good recommendation

Cheers all

Well, I have a Thomson Masterpiece, on a CAAD 8 'Dale frame and it's *not* forgiving at all. Stiffer than a really stiff stiffie an' all that, but comfort? Non, monsieur.

I have a 3T Doric Team carbon, which seems ok as far as comfort goes, but the clamps are a b@$tard to set up.

The only Ritchey post I have is aluminium, so comfort rating not special, but simple to set up and use. Dunno about the carbon ones. Ritchey stuff = good, IMO though.

Best post I've used of late is a Syntace P6 carbon. Has some flex/give, but nice strong clamps (2 bolt though) and looks sleek. See here. http://www.syntace.com/index.cfm?pid=3&pk=2033

BR also did a review of the P6, here: http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/seat-post-seat-pin/product/review-syntace-p6-hiflex-seatpost-12-46314

the spesh is 'soft', so a good option, if not quite inline.

Had the same query a month ago and finally bought this after a few weeks of research.

Absolutely brilliant. I was in two minds wether to bother to buy a carbon post as to it making a difference, but i took the plunge and got one anyway. Im so glad i did, the difference is noticeable, its stiff but flexes just enough to take the sting out of the road and dampen the ride. I used it with a seat that i was intending to get rid of to see if there was a difference before i bought a new seat and i could feel it straight away.

Since then ive bought a new seat (Romin Gel Comp) and the ride is transformed by those two products, i can ride all day long.

The seatpost is great. Great price too at the moment and not setback as much as true setback/offset posts. Its more a design feature if anything. Theres also a YouTube video of it having 200kg hanging off it here

Why don't you try 25mm tyres? That's assuming you're currently using 23mm ones.

As you can see it can be ordered with zero setback.

+1 to this. I also did this as well, massive difference to comfort. You wouldnt think 2mm would make that much difference but it does.

I bought a Kore carbon seatpost a while back which is very good with a bit o flex built in. I bought the layback version but they do one inline too.

I have a Ritchey carbon post and use 25mm (Conti GP4s) on mine and am very impressed with the comfort levels.

Cheers for the replies guys - given me some good ideas to have a look at.
I already run 25mm gp4000s at a lower pressure and therefore am looking for ways to reduce the buzz, hence thinking of the seatpost

    Cheers again
