tiagra or 105

im going to replace my sora triple chainset on my trek 1.5, will a tiagra 4603 be ok or is a 105 better, the 105 is about £60.00 more

    The new 105's (5700) give you under-bartape cabling. I think it looks much better and haven't had any drag issues 1 year in.
    105 looks a bit neater overall. Can't say there is much difference in shifting performance when both set up properly.

    Just to point out that the OP is asking (I think) about chainsets only (not the whole groupset) and said the 105 costs £60 more than the Tiagra.

    Probably not worth the extra IMHO, but might be worth comparing the respective weights.
  • The current Tiagra chainset is actually nicer looking than 105.

    Ah - if its only the chainset there you would be hard pushed to notice much difference in performance.
