I have a few already but fancy treating myself.
I currently have:
Gore Oxygen SO - very good, nice and warm, not mega breathable though so needs to be cold enough to work properly
Endura FS260 Jetstream - thinner than the Gore so better for warmer days
The latest Castellis look lovely - anyone got one?
Others to look at/try on?
Doesn't need to be waterproof or anything, just well made, well cut and ideally stretchy and windproof.

Hi
Just bought a Santini Touch jacket from Prendas:

Really good fit, looks good and is on offer for a good price. Worth a look...0 -
Castelli jackets are great and they use Gore fabrics which wash really well - I have a 4 year-old Espresso with white panels which still washes-up gleaming - Assos white kit of that vintage is a lovely, grimey grey!
I've got the new Castelli Gabba convertible jacket on its way from Italy - stretchy fabric which fits really neatly if you like a racier cut - pretty waterproof too by all accounts.
For decent prices on Castelli buy from Italy or Germany - 25% less than UK prices and often a bigger range of colours too. Try all1sport.com - bought a few things from them with no worries.
Also look at Sportful - they own Castelli so similar quality but often cheaper.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -

Maybe eyeing up the Endura Equipe too... anyone have one of those?

[is that Rob Hayles...? make him do a 360 spin, very silly]
Is there a good Castelli stockist in London? I'm going down to the city in a few weeks..Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
is the Gabba more of a 'jersey' though?
I must admit, the Velocissimo Equipe jacket looks nice

I have a Gabba jersey (short sleeve) and a Fawsome vest, made of the same material. I cannot rate them high enough. They are very effective windstoppers - pop the zip up and not a breath of cool breeze will get through. Surprisingly breathable too, I've worn the jersey up to 15 degrees and not boiled. I like the fact it wears more like a jersey than a jacket, paired with decent arm warmers it's quite versatile for British weather.0 -
I recently bought a Gore Xenon AS 2.0 windstopper. It's great. Very well made and a good close fit.0

Rapha winter jersey, very breathable and not as warm as your Gore, my Gore Phantom is warmer.

I know it says cold to freezing conditions I would say 2-10 degrees (depending on base layer)
windproof chest but not arms.0 -
I have one of these. I think it's the 2010 version, doesn't seem anything has changed though, just the colours:

Excellent at keeping the elements at bay, will even withstand a shower. Very effective as a windstopper. Has some nice little features too, ones that actually work and aren't just marketing bollocks. (Ergo cuff and zip and the vents).
It's made from a nice stretcy material that feels substantial but not bulky or restrictive when you're on the bike. If I needed to, I wouldn't think twice about buying another one. Really impressed with it.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -
cheers all

The Santini Touch from Prendas is a great jersey/jacket and at £70 is an absolute bargain. It's good for up to about 12 degrees with a lightweight l/s baselayer and should be ok down to about 0 degrees with a nice winter weight merino baselayer (I've not had it long so not had a chance to try it when it's really cold). I'd say it's ideal for fast road riding on normal winter days unlike many of the windproof jackets which are just too warm for all but the coldest of winter days.More problems but still living....0

The Gabba does appear to be classed more as a jersey than a jacket - probably because of the very close fit. I''ve got mine for CX racing. For some reason, most UK dealers aren't doing the convertible version with the removable sleeves. I also have a Radiation jacket which is incredibly versatile - I did a 5 hour ride in the snow last winter wearing only this with the reflective inserts and a long sleeve merino top.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I'm doing similar research at the moment. Call me what you want, but I seem to be shopping on colour at the moment, as I want to avoid black, which for me rules out the Santini top. Have you looked at the Castelli Transparente jersey; and as an alternative what about the DHB Winslam......I reckon with a decent base layer, these would be good to bridge the temparature gap between 5-15c.Plymouthsteve for councillor!!0

It's not black. There is more black on the back of it, but there's also a 10cm wide stripe down the middle that's silver (as well as reflective piping).More problems but still living....0 -
I have the castelli pazzo jacket from jejamescycles for 95 of your finest pounds, has zip off sleeves so doubles as a thicker gilet, good pocket space, comfy round the neck, noticeable windproof on the relevant areas as people describe the higher quality fits allowing better venting when cracking on.
I think castelli gives you great value on the jacket front, washes well, good fit being i would say between club and race fit so for those of us that may have the odd choccy bar best of both worlds.
good luck with the jacket hunt i seriously considered the rapha softshell but couldn't quite bring myself to pull the trigger but if the future wife is ever struggling for a gift idea I will point her at it and see if she laughs or takes serious note !!!Enigma Esprit Di2 - Go tI ! Summer !0 -
The new Gore Tex 2013 line looks promising
It is important to try these jackets on first, no point in having one if it dont fit. Interestingly I do not fit the Rapha
softshell But I do fit the winter jersey.0 -
The Assos jackets are very wind proof, I have an ijhabu5 and highly recommend it. It is not as thick/heavy as the winter jersey but as effective if you layer up.0

The sizing was spot on. I measured my chest which is 42 and went for the large. Perfect fit. Not too tight. More forgiving than castelli!Wilier cento uno.0 -
I was actually gonna go for the Black one because i thought it looked a little 'Batman-ish' which i thought was brilliant! But i wanted to be seen more so went for red. All it needed was one of those capes and i would of been the 'Riding Caped Crusader' Nuff said.....Wilier cento uno.0

A bit more pauperish than most of the suggestions on here but I really like my altura cropton windprood shell. It's really light and packs well not too warm fit is good. I need to get a new one because I've lost a load of weight but I'll replace it with another the same and use the baggy one for MTBingSaracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

On a more serious note... I came home in very wet conditions and it was dry on the inside, apart from sweat that is.Wilier cento uno.0
