turbo trainer-rear wheel- tyre , help needed

I've decided (due to crap weather) to buy a turbo trainer so as not to lose my fitness levels that I've built up over the past 6 months.
I read that a turbo trainer destroy's the rear tyre so now I'm thinking , would it be best to buy a spare rear wheel (already have a spare 10 speed cassette) and hot swap and would anyone have any recommendations for a cheap but good 10 speed rear wheel, and a tyre suitable for a turbo trainer ?, or even the turbo trainer itself would be handy ?.
I read this review;-
http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... r-12-42691
and for the money it seems just the job plus there's a shop not far from me doing it for £120 .
Any help on all 3 would be greatly appreciated as I've never used one so Ive no idea what's good or bad. I did try reading reviews on turbo trainers but there's so many i got lost with whats good or bad.
I'm trying to keep the cost down to £180-£200 for all 3 as I'm skint like the rest of the UK.

Buy a crappy second hand wheel off ebay - anything goes!
Tyres dont wear that fast, i just use old tyres i wouldnt ride on the road any more and one normally gets through a winter. Ive never seen the point of spending £25 on a trainer tyre...0 -
It depends a lot on your turbo trainer...
I use Michelin Pro 3s and have noticed no additional wear from using the turbo. I put a new one on a few weeks ago and commuted daily and ran on the turbo for about 6 hours and it still has the rubber line from the mould showing on the middle of the tyre.0 -
So is it worth me buying a second rear ? , i use "Rubino Pro III slicks" on my bike and i was under the impression that I'd be changing them regularly once i start using them on a Turbo trainer so I thought a 2nd rear wheel purchase would be my best option so as to save on tyres.
Also, Is there any truth in "not" using a carbon framed bike on a turbo ?. It's just things I've read while trying to get to grip with what I should be using.0 -
Buy a cheap, 2nd hand rear wheel. Put an old (cheaper) or turbo (quieter) tyre on it. Sorted.Rich0

I use my carbon bike on the trainer. I get out the saddle and sprint. I am heavy. It's fine.
Try your regular tyres. See if you get wear or start to get a flat centre to your tyre.
A cheap wheel with a turbo tyre is only needed if your tyre turbo/combo wears fast. Mine doesn't wear fast, so I don't bother.0
