Saddle recovering/renovating

Has anyone had any success in doing this? I have a white Charge Knife that's starting to look quite tatty after >2 years use and I'm considering giving this a go, partly because I fancy an interesting colour. Seems fairly easy and cheap to get offcuts of leather in various colours and I've found some info on what glue is best to use, but I don't have a feeling for how easy or otherwise it'd be to do a really good job.

Or is there someone in the UK that recovers saddles?

I'd say if the alternative is replacing, then give it a go and more importantly report back

A long time ago I worked in a shoe factory that made shoes for Clarkes and one of my club members also worked in the same place, he often covered his saddles (we had very good glue and good leather), as he mostly rode Time Trials he often covered a plastic saddle http://www.velomine.com/index.php?main_ ... hhdeeu6pg0
with a plastic type covering, good job he made too.

Looks great (not sure how practical all the perforations are though), but probably more than the cost of a new saddle even before postage!
