It's going to be pretty slow without wheels - even I know that........
    Faster than a tent.......
  • The Canyon is pretty sexy..

But If we're including wheels then a Pinarello Graal with a tri-spoke floats my boat.

    P5.

Does it need to be UCI legal?

The only criteria is that money is no object at the moment, what TT bike are you moving up from? Do you already have position sorted? ...oh, and which wheels are you planning on putting on it?

Money no object will be a pro level TT bike.

But can your body deal with the extreme angles and ride of a pro level bike? Bikes like the P5 have an unbelievably low head tube height, and require you to be nearly licking the front wheel.

im not moving up from one. moving from road bike with TT bars. Long story involving an accident and a big payout which allows me to buy a TT bike to go with my 695.

no position isnt sorted yet, hence going to an LBS not off the internet.

    i have a set of Enve 6.7s

just because its a pro level TT bike doesnt mean it has to be set up as aggressively as a pro would ride it.

I wouldn't buy from my LBS just so they could sort position. You'd be better of going to see someone like Adrian Timmis at Cadence Sport or Richard at Pedal Precision first, then use the measurements to choose sizing.

theres more to it than that Nap. payout for my damaged Look will be sent to the shop that are dealing with it so i have to spend it there. I might speak to the bike whisperer as hes fitted me previously.

Shiv isn't UCI legal, but more importantly it's not as sexy as the Plasma.

The Storck Aero 2 is awesome as well:

Why don't you just tell us what your LBS stocks and we'll say which one is best?

i also know them well enough to get them to order anything i want in... (apart from internet only brands/exclusives to someone else)

FYI the Shiv TT is UCI legal, if it wasn't as you claim, how did then the UCI manage to miss out on the fact that Tony Martin was riding one during his TT win at the World Champs last week?

They make two, don't they? A UCI legal one and a Tri one. Cervelo do a similar thing with the P5, but it's the fork they change, rather than the whole frame.

    Non UCI legal

  • How about a Giant Trinity?

(Although, TBH, if it was me, I'd get a Cervelo P3. Good enough for Cancellara and Pooley!)

If you don't know your position yet then you've got to get that sorted. Id also say Id want to be riding that position on something before I shell out big bucks. Some bikes with integrated bar setups which might look flash might be completely useless to you if you can't get your position.

I ride my pads 20mm lower than when I started, my bike allowed it. I know plenty of bikes that have no size where Id get what I want my position to be.

I just be incredibly sure before you dump a load of cash, that's all.

Also aren't Enve 6.7's Clinchers... by going for a super high end TT bike surely you'll want a Rear Disc and want to be running Tubs?? ...not that you have to! and Im not being snobby, it'd be like getting a Ferrari then putting wheels and tyres on it that aren't 'right'??

Anyway, doesn't matter, if your trying to get frame sorted first get the position right first, in fact Id almost say pick something up cheap or s/h for say £400 and set it all up and get the position nailed, then go looking??

Edit: Looking at your bikes in your sig and their saddle to bar drops defintely be careful with some of the integrated bar designs, on gut reaction you might need something higher at the front so a bike you can choose from a huge variety of bars that there are out there might be worth looking at, and there's plenty of them around, P4 for one example... some bikes are higher at the front, for example the Canyon Speedmax that's outgoing was notoriously high in the headtube, look up what Cadel had to do it to get a low position for instance.

Tell that to Tony Martin  , tubs are not the be all and end all when it comes to wheel/tyre selection.

As for Enve wheels, I would say they are pretty top end, and probably better than some discs

As for the OP, I would try and find some of the bikes in other shops and at least have a play around on them to see what actually fits you the best, and what they each offer you in terms of fitment adjustments. I quite like the Giant Trinity's, especially as the 2013 models has a bottle cage boss on them now.

I'll try and find out from one of the guys in our club where he got measured/recommended and theen loaned

He turned up this year with a variety of frames based on his measurements, including a Slice, Scott and a P5, which I had a quick go of and was pretty immensure even in trainers (he had spd pedals and I use Speedplay)

Tony Martin's pretty much on his own compared to everyone else in TTing though when he's used them.

Enve make great wheels I agree... Simon Smart is designing a disc too, and its bound to be good, his leaning is always towards real world conditions including handling.

How many pro's do you see TTing without a disc? ...even in blustery conditions??

Andy Wilkinson has a steel framed custom Roberts that he uses for all sorts of riding, as well as his 24h TT exploits
