I want to add some new shifters to my Sora compact groupset. My current groupset is 9spd but the 105 shifters I aim to buy are 10spd. What other parts will I need to buy to make it work.
Thank you
Thank you

You can get 9 speed 105 (or Ultegra or Dura Ace) shifters on ebay second hand or you will need to buy:
Rear cassette
Cassette removal tool & Chain whip
10 speed chain
Possibly new cables (depends if they come with the shifters)0 -
You'll need a 10 speed cassette and chain, that's all.
When I upgraded my Cannondale to Dura-Ace I put its 105 shifters on my Sora tourer. Only downside is that Soar is easier to change with thick winter gloves.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

The shifters do come with cables, are the tools 100% necessary??0

If you have a vice like grip no but if you are a human being yes.
You could always get the bike shop to remove your old cassette and fit the new one but it will probably cost the same as buying the tools anyway.0 -
I might just get the bike shop to do it as I'm not very experienced with all this :?0

Make sure you get a quote first as you might be surprised at how much it will cost and you might reconsider whether it is worth doing.
Incidentally Tiagra 4500 shifters are 9 speed and are very similar to older 105 (externally routed cables). You would only need to swap the shifters and re-index the gears, much simpler/cheaper e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SHIMANO-TIAGR ... 257528e4820 -
I've found the shifters with about £100 off, and the chain and cassette cheaper but thanks for the tip0
