Hybrid for my daughter

Can anyone recommend a good hybrid bike for my young teenage daughter? She's after a road bike with flat handlebars and big gears for the hills, also not skinny tyres, something that can go on a bridleway 10% of the time, but 90% tarmac use. Not interested in the step-thru sit up and beg womens bikes, it has to look quite sporty and it has to be not-very-much-money (under £350) so no top end butted alloy carbon fibre titanium sprocket rocket, just a decent inexpensive machine to last her a couple of years.

Seems to cover all your bases, and with specialized you know you are getting a good bike

thanks - seems to tick all the boxes. Also came across the Giant Rove 2, though front and rear disc brakes may be a bit overkill

Check it out...no skinny tires, extremely tough wheels (riding off curbs and such and still completely true), plenty of high and low gears. I got my focus arriba second hand this year for 200 euro and it was ridden only 60k so I was really happy with my purchase. Has Tiagra rear derailleur and 8 gear rear casette, shifting is pretty smooth and always responsive.
P.S.
It doesn't come with the mudguards0 -
It is upping you budget a bit but I got my wife a Specialized Vita Sport 2012 this summer on cycle to work. Pretty impressed actually. There are a few places offering the 2012 versions at about £400.
For £550 (although there are often offers and discount codes) you could have a Boardman Fi Hybrid Comp which seems very goodCoach H. (Dont ask me for training advice - 'It's not about the bike')0 -
