Commuter front road light

I commute to work and do 23 miles each way, around half of which is on completely unlit country rural Cheshire roads.
I'm after a decent light for the front to light the pot holes as winter approaches and make me more visible to on coming traffic (a lot of single track roads)! Top of my budget would be around £100, and they would be purely for on road use. I'm not interested in a set unless it's cheaper, I'm happy enough with the LEDS and helmet light I have for the rear.
It must be a rechargeable one, I don't want to be changing batteries all winter!
I've had a look around and the range is baffling with no easy way to know if they would be up to the job. So - can anyone point me in the right direction? Any suggestions on the number of lumens I should be looking for the type of roads described above?
Thanks.

Moon comet at £60 is quite nice, much more reliable than the cheap torch options.
Alternatively the new cateye nano is a very well built light, even if the bracket is a bit rubbish.0 -
Thanks - I like the look of the Cateye Nano, and a bargain at £54 on Wiggle compared to others I have looked at.... it looks like there is a new model for not much more - CatEye Nano + (showing as $120 - can't find a UK price or stockist at the moment though).
I might wait a few weeks to see if that pops up over here, as it's not dark on my rides yet (!)0 -
Check out the lights sticky and threads on MTB buying forum for the definitive word on lights0

Lezyne front lights are on offer at sport pursuit this week; downside is that you don't receive them for a few weeks.
I've personally been very happy with my Philips saferide from rosebikes (think its currently cheapest at bike-discount.de) as an unlit road commuting light.Location: ciderspace0
