Hi,

I have a new CAAD8 When I took it out on its first ride today I noticed when braking there was play between the headset (I think thats what the part is called) and the frame. The part that moves has 'tange seiki' written on it with the spaces above.

I have tightened the bolt on the top where it joins the stem.

Is this play normal? Any help is appreciated.

You have to do up the bolts in a certain order.

Slacken the bolts at the back of the stem. Tighten the bolt at the top then tighten the bolts at the back of the stem.

If the stem isn't a little slack you can't tension the headset.

You need to be careful how much you tighten the top bolt, as you will compress the bearings too tight
