Trek 8000 - Hack Bike

So recently i've been wanting to ride more places for everyday chores. I decided my Tallboy, and my SuperSix may be overkill to get a stamp from the post office. So I rummaged through my garage and put a "Hack Bike" together. This is my take on the everyday city bike.
I already new I had a frame I could use. My trusty Trek 8000! I was then faced with a dilemma . . . suspension fork or rigid? I ended up using my Nuke Proof rigid fork because the extra weight of my old Pace forks wasn't worth it for city use. I was then very pleased to find a functional Shimano XTR groupset that I could use. I was missing the shifters, but I had an old pair of XT shifters lying about I could use. The wheels were a challenge, which resulted in me having to buy a new front wheel ( ) so it could be compatible with my new Avid BB5 disc brakes. Finally, I found a stem, bars, and saddle and I was done! After all was said and done it was a fun little project putting this thing together.

I'd be selling that groupset and buying a current Deore one. The retro boys will probably love the M952 chainset, particularly as it's not scuffed!0

Really! I wouldn't have thought it would be old enough to qualify as "retro" yet? Plus, it's such a pain in the a*se selling stuff.“Don’t buy upgrades, ride up grades.”
