I'm looking at buying a complete bike that comes with Mavic R-Sys SL wheels which I don't need/want.
Would anyone be interested in buying them? If so, how much? The cheapest I can find them in stock for is £1,349.
The wheels will be brand new, no cassette, tyres nor tubes.

Mavic Pair Wheels R-Sys SL Clincher
Mavic R-Sys SL Clincher wheels - A sub 1300gram R-Sys: Tracomp performance for the lightest clincher wheelset available Only exclusive Mavic technologies on the spoke, rim and hubs could make this wheel possible. ISM3D rims save every possible gram of inertia, extralight hub axle and bearings save weight and carbon Tracomp spokes deliver lateral stiffness and acceleration... All this with no compromise on reliability. The perfect wheel for the most demanding climbers.

Lighter : 1295 grams
- The lightest rim: ISM 3D
- Light components : carbon hubs, superlight bearings and axles
Highly responsive
- High energy transfer: Tracomp technology
- The lowest inertia for the same stiffness: ISM 3D
A classy wheelset that matches every bicycle

- Weight (ED10): 1295g (per pair). Front wheel 545g, Rear wheel 750g

trouble is, resale value plummets instantly on sale, even for unused items, and if mavic has announced any variation for the new season that'll cut resale value too

retail wheels probably come with wheel bags and various bits and bobs like warranty card, option to buy mavic's crash replacement cover, etc., oem ones for a bike are probably lacking some of this

if you're buying from an lbs, might be worth seeing if they'll give you a decent trade-in against other stuff

otherwise, check ebay to see if there've been any sales you can use as a guide

Yup this wheel doesn't exist next year as it's been absorbed into the SLR.

  • the real problem is that these expensive delicate wheels live on a warranty... once you resale the warranty is gone... as that's an agreement between the retailer and the buyer, without warranty they're not very appealing, as anything that goes wrong is a big hefty bill to fix them...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking sungod and ugo.santalucia. I would offer a warranty through me, but the buyer would have to get them back to me at their cost. Obviously, there would be a lot of trust from the buyer with this arrangement.

    Never mind, I don't think it's a goer.... plan B.... hmmm.....

Put them on ebay, they'll sell for a fortune.
