Just back froma bbq, catch up with few mates, quick beer and internet before sleep - plus Something about mary on tele (win).

    Morning bumders

Meh day today. Need to get the spare wheel on the bike, clean it and may as well start to pack it up as I'm in no condition to be riding before I head down to uni.

Rest of the day will be dossing. Playing playbox and moaning about the lack of F1 on the BBC.

  • Morning all,

Not much planned, some shopping for food supplies and then a short ride I think. Should be a nice lazy boring Sunday

    See ya

    Morning girls,

bit tired due to the girlfriends knobhead neighbours. They seem to think its a good idea to get the bouncy castle - yes full size one - out whenever there's a bit of nice weather and something to celebrate. Celebration being the youngest daughter leaving for uni. So have to put up with lots of teenage girls bouncing on a bouncy castle for most of the evening / night.
On the plus side there was some cracking views from the back bedroom :)

Brekky, get the little man sorted then off to Southport to watch some planes flying round :)

    @cwnt - good luck !
  • Bacons to be had, Cannock to be ridden, F1, all with nice weather! Can't be bad :)
  • No riding for me, just sorting through some photos I took yesterday. Then later on I have to drive around to return some equipment I'd borrowed from various people.
    Lovely weather though.

@ yeehaa - no prob, i'll get you some pics of the planes later. Oh, unless you were referring to last nights activites, just had a look outside and its lying there all deflated and tired looking, just like my obvious after a night of teenage girls bouncing on it :):)

    What it is to dream...
  • Er... no, that's not quite what I had in mind
  • Afternoon losers!

Boring morning so far, though have had some laughs. Afternoon as normal, though will try to get out in the sun a bit I think as it's probably the last we'll see of it this summer. Also need to buy a black tie.

    Afternoon Gimps,

Have been out for supplies and am going to soak up a few rays while junior does her 11 plus revision. Hopefully she'll just get on with it so I can enjoy the peace n quiet. No bikes today - I'd overheat, but might get down to Bedgebury for an evening ride in the week if the rain stays away.

  • Well, that was a complete fcuking disaster!

First off, still got slowed down on the first climb by people who don't understand the concept of moving over to the left if you're pushing to let "riders" past.

Riding into a 30mph headwind is not fun.

An amazing singletrack descent that I can clear in under 2min on my own, took over 25 mind-numbing, agonising minutes due to people who have no descending ability whatsoever turning it into yet another hike-a-bike. It really was a fcuking embarrassment. Absolute shambles

Then, to top it off, the climb back up through the plantation, I go to shift down, and my matchmaker clamp completely snaps off.

Had to retire at the half way point as it was looking like it may well end up going into the front wheel, which would have ended badly for me.

Edit: Looking at the CRC reviews of the matchamker clamps, this is a VERY common problem with them.

I think this might just be the final nail in my SRAM coffin. I can see a shiny new Shimano groupset in the not too distant future. SRAM can suck my balls!

on a serious note after the last year that you have had this is not what you were expecting or needed.

I suppose that with such a large entry then Numpties are to be expected though and you did mention them at Crudfest a machine gun may be required next year or better still miss it out and come cycle in the peaks while all the fools are on the island.

As for mechanicals sounds as though you now know what to fix/ get rid of

SRAM, see. serves you right. Bloody crap. All of it.

    Good effort though, I guess.
Why though, would people who have to push up hills ever think of entering the End2End?
  • A lot of people think they are better than they really are. So they start further up the field than they really should. They then get pushed too hard along the road section at the start and have already blown up by the first climb.

It's the pushing DOWN hills that really plsses me off. I firmly believe they should have taken the number of anyone pushing down, and those people should be banned from the event for life. They should also have been left in a ditch with their heads on backwards just to make sure.

I got some footage of the massive gnar that had caused so many people to dismount, will put it up when I get round to it so you can judge for yourselves (and have a good laugh at the fella in front of me who toppled down a bank whilst stood still).

As stated, I don't think I'll be entering again. I can't get ahead of the pushers unless I do it on an out-and-out XC bike, but that would spoil my enjoyment of some of the down hill sections, which are the bits I do it for (long sections that you can't normally do because of all the gates etc).
