  • Can't tell for sure but I suspect they are fakes. Helmets aren't really something I'd like to take a chance with.

Fit and comfort are important. You won't get this off eBay.
And yes they could be fake. Really you need the LBS for this.

Sadly I'm sure some lbs's out there stock fakes too. A worrying thought really.

I hope nobody scrimps on such things as helmets

Having to compete with Internet prices it'd make sense to buy cheap, sell competitively and still make a better profit and turnover.
Might not be an honest living but if it feeds the family ....

And a lot of retail stores of all kinds sell fakes unknowingly. They just see a cheaper price and don't even think to question the legitimacy.

Please note I do not condone fake goods.
  • I saw these to they are selling giro tt helmets for a fraction of the price. I think they come directly from the manufacture.

I suppose it's possible but still think it's unlikely. Why risk a business over a bit of extra profit especially on something as emotive as a bike helmet. Please state your sources or is it just opinion?

So you are 'sure' that bike shops are deliberately selling fake gear on the basis of no evidence whatsoever? You ought to be in the Met Police

    Good pun.

No I'm purely speculating. Fake goods are sold on the high street FACT. There will be the odd bike shop that either knowing or unknowing sells fakes OPINION

I can imagine the tooling involved in creating all of these different brands/models/colours, if these are fakes. I don't mean to sound naive here but making a fake tshirt is one thing. Manufacturing something like these would require the exact tooling and supply chain for buckles etc.

More likely to be obtained straight from actual factory IMHO, therefore genuine.
