frame size

hi im a mountain biker whos looking at gettin a road bike but a bit confused overframe size im 5'10" tall so what size frame is about right for me as they go up im cm not inches like mountain bikes and is it the down tube like on mountainbikes that you look at

    55-56cm usually the order of the day for 5ft 10 but brands do differ in geometry so do check

    I'm quarter of an inch shorter and I've always ridden 53 or 54, anything above gives me issues. Go to a shop and try for size or get measured because 10 people could give you ten different answers(doubtful).
  • i done a charity bike ride from scunthorpe to kings lynn (100 miles) i done some on my mountian bike about 45 miles and found it hard going we had a support van with us and the driver had a trek madone in the back so i used that for the rest of the way what a big diffrence it made :-) but he is 6' 5" tall i got the saddle down as far as it could go but got alot of pain in the groin now is that from the frame being to big hence straining to turn the crank or is it using diffrent muscles (SPD peddals was used as my cleats fitted )
