Pitted fork stanchions - Carrera Fury 08

Hi,
Just bought a mint 08 Carrera Fury for 200 quid off fleabay. Only fly in the ointment is slight pitting on the leading face on one of the fork leg, its just above the fork seal and goes beneath the seal when depressed. The pitted area is probably 40 to 50mm long. :?
Now I'm no hardcore mtb rider at all, just the odd visit to Dalby to do the red route and farting around Brantingham woods in East yorks with my two lads. But the finicky bastid in me is thinking I should sort the pitting if possible. The forks are Rock Shox Tora 318 U- turn forks, decent forks I think. Is it worth sorting them or should I just ride the thing first and see what's occurring ?
Cheers
Scott

Use a very fine emery paper to remove any outstanding rust, oil the seals, then ride.0

pretty much what sonic said. if you want to be really picky, after you've sanded it down, you could fill in an of the uneven spots (if there are any) with a bit of nail varnish and then sand down until its smooth and conforms with the rest of the stanchion, but probably not necessary really. My Nukeproof Mega
