SRAM Force brake lever angle adjustment?

I'm trying to adjust the angle of a brake lever on a bike with SRAM Force. I don't really know how to explain but, basically, if you try to use the left brake, the lever/shifter hits the handlebar since it needs to be angled a bit more outwards (like the right one is, which works fine). I looked around but I can only find the shifter and lever reach adjusters, no luck on the angle one.

If anyone knows how to do it I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance.

  • If your trying to adjust the reach there is an Allen bolt under the hood
  • No, not the reach. Imagine you look at the front of the bike. The levers aren't vertical (they're a bit angled outwards). One of the levers isn't angled enough though, so it doesn't have enough room to fully break.
  • Is it the angle of the lever relative to the rest of the mechanism which is different or the angle of the whole break relative to the handlebar?
  • It's really hard to tell but it looks like it's just the lever/shifter.. Is this even possible to adjust? I don't understand what could be wrong if it isn't (handlebar?)

Sounds to me like you have too much cable to pull ? You need to sort that out - so make sure the brake blocks are within a mm or two of the rim ? That way the lever shouldnt hit the bar before the brakes are fully engaged ?

Maybe the brake blocks are just very worn ?

Tighten cable if using normal force brake callipers and make sure pads are very close to rim. Or maybe you are using V brakes - which if this is the case (as I found out today) you need something like Mini V brakes. It is nothing to do with the shifters themselves - unless of course you have been able to over adjust the angle of the lever too much.

If he had the V brakes though - surely both would be equally bad - not just one ?
