Looking at this for my first road bike
http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/speci ... /110305414

I'm 5ft 7 so size looks ok. Relatively fit but live in a hilly area .. Is the double and not triple a worry? Is it worth the cash if in decent condition?

Thx
Dez

You can get that bike brand new for under 500...

As long as it's a compact (most of them are) you'll be fine with hills.

  • Cheers :)

New is a bit out of my price range ... Is there much difference between 2010 and 2012 versions that would be worth it though? (other than new vs. 2nd hand)?

Not that I'm aware of. If you're buying off Gumtree be sure it's not stolen.

  • I'm now the proud owner of a Spesh Allez double. Everything seems OK, and I got it for under £200 :)

Might take it to LBS and get it serviced just in case ... don't want anything going horribly wrong as I hurtle down a hill!

    Thanks for the advice,
