Chain Slipping under load
Hi, I have recently fitted a new chain and cassette as the chain would previously slip under heavy load (ie when climbing out of the saddle). Looking at my middle chainring it looks like there is a little bit of wear, but not much, and when I rotate the cranks and watch the chain enter/exits all chinrings there is no sign of it being 'sucked'. Furthermore, there are no hooked teeth etc.
Is it likely that a very mildy worn chainring could be the problem? I've also ruled out stiff links etc. If I replace the middle chainring (Shimano Tiagra Triple 39t) would it be ok to use a Shimano 105 39t that is specified for a double chainset if both have a 130BCD?
Thanks!

If everything is working then I'd leave be (not sure if you are saying that the slipping is still happening or are just concerned about visible teeth wear. Best to use two or three chains in rotation to reduce cassette wear though.
As for the chainring (which hopefully you don't need)- a middle chainring of a triple will have ramps on the inside to aid shifting into the small ring. An inner chainring for a double won't have the ramps so the shifting will be worse. Get the correct chainring!Faster than a tent.......0 -
If its still slipping, is the chain the right length?

If it slips on the front rings replace, if it does not leave it until it does (that will take a while though).http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
