Is anything better than the Canyon for the money?

I'm looking for a new nice bike. I've lusted after a Time for a while, but the ISP puts me off.
Looking at the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX9.0 Ltd it ticks a lot of boxes. The geometry suits and it looks decent. For £3250 quid for a well reviewed bike complete with Super Record and decent wheels is this a no brainer?
Before I buy I wondered if there was anything I should look at. It must be carbon, be campagnolo equipped and be under or around £4k.
ideas?

A friend has one - incredibly light and he has been extremely pleased with his Canyon and the stealth look. Can't think what would compete price wise other than careful following of used bike threads!

It looks like the Canyon then.
Seriously, if Canyon can do it, why aren't there a bunch of bike at this price point?0 -
Because Canyon direct sell.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Obviously.
But if it works for them, why aren't there a bunch of others doing it?
Serious question. Low margins, superior buying power, more risk tolerant, less greedy - if it's profitable I'd expect competitors, but there's nobody providing a sub UCI legal weight bike on top end gear within a thousand pounds.
Just seems odd to me.0 -

How about a custom steel frame with whatever bits and pieces and with whatever geometry you want?
ISP's are brilliant, other than transporting the bike, they are better in every way.
Times have a quality and rarity that Canyons can't hold a candle to so you may still lust after a Time if you get the Canyon. Seems a strange shortlist as well, Supersix EVO or Canyon I could understand, or a Time or a Look.
Would an R3 be the best of both worlds?0 -
Yeah they are supposed to be great bikes. Getting mine (Or supposed to be, judging by how long it's taken to get this far i doubt it) in the next couple of days (Ultimate AL 9.0 Di2) and looking forwards to it immensely.0

Got my stealth slx 8.0 10 days ago and did the hell of the north 100 mile sportive on it today as its first outing. It performed faultlessly and is far better than me!
Buy it!0 -

I agree whole heartedly. As you suggest am not normally interested in Canondale (or Trek or Spesh).
I will still lust after a Time regardless of which bike I get. However, I spend a few weeks a year on the continent riding the thing and an ISP is a complete impossibility with the way the car fills up.
Canyon appeals primarily due to the price. It will not completely fill the gap for a Time, but it'll do. I need a second bike soon. A similar spec Time doubles the price and requires and ISP, so no matter how much my heart wants it, my head will not open the wallet.
Anyway, I've just made the purchase. My darling Wilier is now relegated to the turbo.0 -

Any idea how long they take to get delivered when they were in stock?
I got a confirmation email at time of ordering and nothing since.0 -
I ordered mine (From stock) on the 25th August. Has only been picked up by UPS today so hopefully should get it by Wednesday.0
-
So I should expect an email in a few days when it gets picked up?0

I wouldn't expect anything till next monday if i'm honest.0 -
Ordered mine last Tuesday and haven't yet had the UPS/despatch notification. Emailed Canyon UK last Friday with what I'd describe as a semi-apologetic request for more info and they came straight back to me and said they expected it to go out some time this week.
Fair enough I reckon - they've probably been busier than usual given the sale and the resultant hype on places like here.0 -
Ordered mine on a Tuesday evening, around 10 pm.
I arrived UPS the following Monday afternoon. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Mine was ordered on a Sunday and arrived on the Monday a week later.0

I got an order confirmation this morning with a suggestion that it was going to be delivered this week (week 36).
It doesn't say it's been picked up by UPS yet, but does say they are the courrier.
I guess when it's picked up I'll get a tracking number for UPS?0 -

Yeah that's right. I wouldn't take too much notice of the week thing though. Mine said week 35 (27th Aug - 2nd Sep) and it's being delivered tomorrow (5th). So don't expect it until wednesday next week in all honesty. Hopefully you get it sooner but i bet Canyon are very busy at the moment.0 -
Are most people having a bike fit and ordering after the data from that is available? Just wondering.+++++++++++++++++++++

I did use their PPS system. My Ultimate AL 9.0 Di2 arrived today and it fits me like a glove (Medium frame/56cm - 5ft 9" inseam 85cm)0 -
Looking at the Aeroad 8.0 Di2 but nervous it'll be a bit too head down and racey (not too clued up on things like geometry I'm afraid) - coming from a Trek 2.1 ally - should I worry about comfort ?A person who aims at nothing is sure to hit it

Without a test ride, I guess you need to decide that from comparing the geometry of your current frame and the new one.
I went with a like for like on what I know works. It's not identical, but close enough that I'm confident it'll be fine as long as the numbers are all true.
Incidently, I measured myself and fed the numbers into their system and it just came back with what I would have got anyway,
It's been a week now since I ordered from stock, but it's still not been dispatched. Meh.0 -

What's the difference between the CF SLX 8.0 and the CF SLX 8.0 ES? Is it only the seatpost?0

Ordered mine on 24th August and it arrived 7th September, an Ultimate CF SLX 8.0, I am very very pleased with it. Now need to develop the engine.0
