Wheelset change

I own a Cube Peloton race and am wanting to change the wheels for something a little stronger as I have snapped 2 spokes in as many weeks, I'm a hefty rider about 17.5 stone.
Want something good quality
I'm currently running EASTON EA30's 20/24 spoke with Ultremo ZX tyres
I've seen a few wheel sets but am unsure which way to go. ie; same spoke count better quality wheel or same quality more spokes my budget is whatever the Easton's are worth plus £50-60
Any advice appreciated many thanks

common view is that 20/24 spoke are no good for heavier riders and you need to be looking at 32 spoke or cyclocross wheels
having said that, I am 17 stone running on 20/24 spoke roval fusee wheels and they have never needed truing up once never mind breaking a spoke
You need to be running 25c tyres as well0 -
I thought that have been looking at PLANET X's AL30C wheel set, or sticking with what I've got and running Conti 4 season 25c's0

Am I wrong or the EA 30 have conventional J spokes? If so, all you need is a decent builder to have a look at them and maybe rebuild with new spokes, better quality ones, like DT Swiss, maybe using washers. If the rims are still good and the hubs roll well, the cost is not prohibitive.... 70 pounds maybe?
They are still under engineered for you, but if they have served you well for more than one year, maybe they work for you, no?left the forum March 20230 -
Yes they are J spokes0

In which case you have that option too... Give a ring to just riding along, see if they do these jobs...left the forum March 20230 -

I looked at them as well and the fewer spoked wheelset at 150 quid as well and could not make up my mind , nearly bought some shimano rs30 wheels from merlin but again they have fewer spokes ........i am so confused i dont know what i am gonna buy lol !0

Stay away from Shimano's below £250 they are crap0
-
you tried them then , maybe thats the reason they have 44% discount LOL0
-
They will, probably be fine if you weigh less than 4 stne0

Had stock 32 spoke wheels on my cannondale and they lasted less than 300 miles before spokes started to go so I sent them back and received a set of shimano r501's 20/24 as a replacement and there great over 2000 miles in no issues at all so You'll be fine on 20/24 spoke wheel set.0

I hope your right lol, they in LBS now being re tensioned and trued0

Having the same issue with these EA30's, mine lasted weeks before 2 snapped spokes and a few very loose ones. Reading forums its a common fault on these wheels and a common thing is they are all on the peloton's. Mine is an SL supplied by Leisure Lakes.
I was expecting the warranty claim to come back sooner than the 4 weeks its taken.
Also looks like they have not swapped them for another brand !0 -
Get some of the wheels I've got they seem to be strong and light0
