I have a carbon frame bike and am fitting a fork with a carbon steerer. It has an intergrated headset and wanted to know if I have to use any particular type of grease when sitting the cartridge bearings in the headtube.
Im new to putting my own bikes together and my old bike has an alloy steerer and frame and was well greased up around the cartridge bearings but didnt want to ruin my new frame if I had to use something special!!

It's common to grease a steel bearing going in to an alloy seat to help prevent them becoming fused by galvanic corrosion.

If your bearings are going into an alloy insert in the carbon I'd do the same. If directly into a recess in the carbon I'm less sure.

No form or grease will damage your frame, or any carbon composite. Just use LM grease, or any other grease with the exception of copper slip ect which is only an anti-seize.

I use Google and it came up with

    http://www.bikeforums.net/archive/index.php/t-516088.html

Where you'll see a mention of using Park Poly Lube on carbon. I would first of contact the frame maker, or use any bike specific grease on carbon, such as that from Halfords or Weldtite, but avoid mineral grease such as LM as it is likley to be acidic, and for that see:

The Wife complained for months about the empty pot of bike oil on the hall stand; so I replaced it with a full one.
